No Guess Throws Clinic

Purpose of the Clinic
This staff development clinic is designed for high school programs where throws coaches are not specialists and often feel unsure, inconsistent, or forced to “guess” at practice.
The goal of the day is not to overwhelm coaches with drills or elite-only technique, but to provide:
• clearer structure
• better decision-making tools
• and greater confidence running throws practices
Coaches will leave with a repeatable framework they can use immediately.
Who This Is For
• High school throws coaches
• Head or assistant coaches responsible for throws
• Programs without a dedicated throws specialist
• Small-school staffs looking for practical, usable structure
No prior throws background required.
What Coaches Will Learn
• How to structure a throws practice session
• How to plan long-term development across a season and year
• How to diagnose root technical problems instead of chasing symptoms
• Which foundational principles matter most and which details can be ignored
• Nutrition, recovery, and safety considerations for throwers
• A broad overview of college training and recruitment expectations
• Live walk-through of a throws practice design
• Live walk-through of a weight room program for throwers
The clinic emphasizes simplicity, clarity, and consistency over complexity.
What Coaches Will Leave With
• A clear framework for diagnosing technical issues
• A repeatable structure for throws practices
• Increased confidence in what to coach and what to ignore
• Example practice templates and planning models
