Only 10 athletes will be accepted for this session.

If the first session fills and there is enough interest, an additional session may be opened.

WHAT WILL WE DO?

The Thrower Academy's Foundational Development Group is designed to develop the movement qualities that throwers need before—and alongside—more advanced technical work.

Over 90 minutes, athletes will work through:

1. Dynamic Warm-Up

5 minutes

Prepare the body for training and get moving.

2. Hurdle Mobility

10 minutes

Two rounds of mobility drills designed to develop movement through different positions and ranges of motion.

3. Low-Intensity Plyometric Circuit

5 minutes

Two rounds of high-volume, low-impact plyometric exercises.

4. Hip Series

5 minutes

Exercises such as fire hydrants, donkey kicks, and other movements focused on developing control and mobility around the hips.

5. Explosive Work

15 minutes

Med-ball throws, med-ball slams, sprints, jumps, and other explosive movements.

6. Positional Isometric Work

15 minutes

Athletes will hold specific throwing positions for extended periods to develop strength and control in the positions that matter.

7. Positional Movement Work

25 minutes

Athletes will work against resistance while moving through specific throwing positions.

This is the heart of the session.

The goal isn't simply to perform a bunch of throwing drills.

It's to develop the physical qualities and movement skills that allow athletes to become better throwers.

WHO IS THIS FOR?

Athletes ages 12–19

The Foundational Development Group is designed for beginner-to-intermediate athletes who are still developing their movement skills and physical foundation.

You may be:

  • Brand new to throwing
  • A middle-school athlete just getting started
  • A high-school thrower looking to improve
  • An athlete who has been throwing for several years but still needs to develop fundamental movement qualities

You do not need to already be an elite thrower to participate.

In fact, this session is specifically designed for athletes who are still developing.

WHY TRAIN WITH JOE?

Joe Brown is a U.S. Olympian and NCAA Division II national champion in the discus.

But the goal of this session isn't simply to have an Olympian teach you how to throw.

It's to give local athletes an opportunity to experience the training environment Joe is building through the Thrower Academy.

Joe's own development as a thrower wasn't a straight line. He went from an athlete who wasn't initially recruited or considered good enough to compete at the highest levels to becoming an NCAA national champion and Olympic athlete.

Now he's building a system to help developing throwers build the physical and movement foundation they need to continue progressing.

THIS IS YOUR CHANCE TO TRY IT FOR FREE.

There is no sales pitch required.

There is no commitment to join the Thrower Academy.

Come train. See how it works. Decide for yourself whether it's the right environment for you.
